Ebright Creek Park
Ebright Creek Park Mission Statement
The
Friends of Pine Lake and the neighbors of Ebright Creek Park are firmly committed to preserving the natural environment
of the site by encouraging a passive park that will serve the City of Sammamish and surrounding neighborhoods and schools as a natural and
useful learning environment.
Ebright Creek Park Values:
·
Ebright
Creek Park
acknowledges the value of sustaining the last viable salmon creek in Sammamish.
·
Ebright
Creek Park
adds to the quality of life in the community by working in harmony with the
natural surroundings and neighborhood to ensure appropriate use of land.
·
Ebright
Creek Park
is a gathering place for all ages that demonstrates the city’s commitment to the
community and to the environment.
Toward
that end, the following should be adhered to:
- The park must be a passive park.
- Buffers and setbacks for Ebright Creek, wildlife and wetlands must be
respected.
- All trees must remain in the park.
- The creek must be fully restored and
maintained.
A covered
shelter utilized as an outdoor environmental education center would be
welcomed, as well as picnic areas, trails, an obstacle course and a viewing
platform. Kiosks about the Kokanee salmon would be a
positive addition in educating the visitors to the park. Grant applications
will be sought by the neighborhood to contribute to the ongoing education
concerning the native salmon, restoration of the creek and the learning center.
